FAUST in the mid-1970's !
FAUST was the 'new style, trendy' magician with his own big magic show when everyone said that the big illusion show with tons of equipment was 'dead'. FAUST proved them all wrong, and he was a huge success in Japan long before others in America came on the scene through television. Fortunately, this hair style soon went out of fashion ! |

GRANVILLE TAYLOR IN HIS ATTIC WORKSHOP
Here is a photograph of Granville Taylor making hundreds of brass leaves for his Flowering Rose Bushes, and his Orange Tree. This is the DANTE and MOI-YO MILLER corner of his workshop, so-called because during long periods of repetetive work, Granville can glance up and see the signed photographs of his idols - DANTE and the beautiful MOI-YO MILLER - and work a few more hours! |
Also on the wall behind the woodwork bench, is a theatre bill of Laurel and Hardy at Leeds Empire, and a photograph of the comedy duo with Stan doing his famous 'lighted thumb' business. Granville Taylor had the great pleasure of seeing Laurel and Hardy live at Manchester Hippodrome, a memorable event almost equalled by seeing Tommy Cooper live at the Prince of Wales Theatre in the mid 1950's doing his famous 'egg-in hat' routine with stooge Ronnie Brody up from the audience. In 1957, when starting out with his own speciality act, Granville Taylor was offered his first booking, from The Delfont Agency, as a 'stooge' for Tommy Cooper for a season in Glasgow, but declined the offer as not being his style, although he thought Tommy Cooper was one of the funniest comedy entertainers of them all.
